Panamá Canal expansion program

- Pospanmax Locks
New locks Pospanamax, excavation of a new access channel to the Pacific, and other new improvements are being made to the Panamá Canal. The new locks will have three chambers, a water recycling pool, a lateral flood/drain system and retractable floodgates.

- Access channel to the pacific
The excavation of a new northern access channel from the new pospanamax locks requires the the excavation of some 49 million cubic meters along a 6.1 kilometer area in four phases (CAP 1-4).

- Improvement of Existing Channels
The dredging of existing channels will ensure the safe navegation of pospanamax vessels through the Canal.
